Nitish Kumar objects to long-stretched election process
Patna, May 19 (UNI): JD (U) president and chief minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday questioned the wisdom of conducting elections in so many phases and said the elections should also not be held when the summer was at its peak.
After casting his vote at booth number 326 at a school in Raj Bhawan, Kumar told newspersons here, “....I have a suggestion to make. I have an experience of such a long period. It is not appropriate to conduct such a long stretched election in such intense heat. ”
“An all party meeting should be convened (on the issue). I have discussions with so many people, common people. Electoral exercise should be conducted in minimum possible phases. Electoral process should not stretch beyond February-March or should be held in October-November,” he opined.
Kumar said, “We were anyhow holding election meetings in scorching heat but people had to face scorching heat. Sheds are not erected at polling booths for voters standing in queues but polling process goes on entire day."
