Nirmala Sitharaman to present Union Budget on July 5

New Delhi, May 31 (IBNS): Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her first Union Budget on July 5, media reports said.

Nirmala Sitharaman assumed charge as the Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs here today.

Sitharaman is the first woman appointed as the full-time Union Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs.

After assuming the charge, she was briefed on the key initiatives and policy issues by the secretaries of the different departments of the Ministry of Finance & Corporate Affairs and was apprised of the ongoing issues and the forthcoming challenges facing the Indian economy among others.

The new cabinet met for the first time today and decided that the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha will be held from June 17 to July 26. The Speaker would be elected on June 19.
