Nashik/UNI: A newlywed woman who had been married just a fortnight ago, was allegedly murdered by her husband on suspicion of her character at Phulenagar in Panchavati area of the Nashik city early on Saturday.

Since the second day of marriage, the couple had started arguing as the husband Sagar Ganpat Pardhi doubted the character of his wife Aarti (19), police said.

On this issue, there was a quarrel between them on Saturday morning, when Sagar started abusing his wife.

First, he strangled Aarti and then hit on his wife's head with a stone, severely injuring her.

At that time, his mother immediately rushed to the upper room and found her daughter-in-law Aarti lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Sagar confessed the crime to his mother.

Injured Aarti was rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

This morning Sagar himself surrendered to the Panchavati police station and confessed to his crime.

Following which, the police arrested Sagar and registered a murder case against him.
