New Delhi, May 24 (IBNS): At the end of months of campaigning which witnessed several rounds of war of words, Narendra Modi, who is set to become the PM for a second straight term, thanked his key opponent Rahul Gandhi after he wished him for the poll victory.

"I accept the verdict of the people of India Congratulations to the winners, Mr Modi & the NDA. Thank you to the people of Wayanad for electing me as your MP. Thank you also to the people of Amethi. Thank you Congress workers & leaders for your hard work in this campaign," Rahul Gandhi tweeted.

Modi replied: "Thank you @RahulGandhi for your good wishes. "

Modi also thanked other opposition leaders like Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu and Punjab CM Amarinder Singh for wishing him.

Modi and his BJP once again stormed back to power as Lok Sabha polls results were declared on Thursday.

India witnessed seven-phase Lok Sabha polls this year.
