Narendra Modi stresses on economic cooperation, enhancing people-to-people ties during meeting with Japanese leaders

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa and Defence Minister Minoru Kihara on Monday met Indian PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi when the leaders stressed upon the importance of strengthening economic cooperation and enhancing people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The two Japanese leaders were visiting India to attend the 3rd round of India-Japan 2+2 Foreign and Defence Ministerial meeting.

Prime Minister welcomed the Japanese Ministers and underscored the importance of holding 2+2 meeting in the context of increasingly complex regional and global order, and deepening ties between India and Japan.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister shared his thoughts and ideas on closer cooperation between trusted friends like India and Japan, especially in areas like critical minerals, semiconductors and defence manufacturing.

They took stock of progress made in various areas of bilateral cooperation including the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the crucial role India-Japan partnership plays in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
