Manama, Aug 25 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance during his trip to Bahrain on Saturday.

The award was conferred to him by Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Modi also held talks with King of Bahrain on wide-ranging bilateral and regional issues.

Modi's visit became the first by an Indian PM to the country.

Accepting the honour, Modi tweeted: "I humbly accept The King Hamad Order of the Renaissance. This is a recognition of India’s strong friendship with Bahrain, which goes back hundreds of years and is expanding rapidly in the 21st century."

Meanwhile, ending his Bahrain trip, Modi is on his way to France to participate in the G7 Summit.
