Narendra Modi holds bilateral talks with Sher Bahadur Deuba

Kathmandu: Indian PM Narendra Modi on Monday met his Nepali counterpart  Sher Bahadur Deuba when the two leaders discussed issues needed to strengthen ongoing cooperation.

"PM @narendramodi holds bilateral talks with PM @SherBDeuba

in Lumbini," MEA spoesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.

"Opportunity to strengthen ongoing cooperation and develop new areas in our multifaceted partnership," he said.

Earlier, the two PMs performed the shilanyas ceremony for construction of the India International Centre for Buddhist Culture and Heritage in the Lumbini Monastic Zone, in Lumbini, Nepal.

They also visited the Mayadevi Temple in Lumbini and offered prayers there.

The visit comes on the auspicious occasion of 2566th Buddha Jayanti.
