Etawah, Mar 29 (UNI) Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Samajwadi Party (SP) patron Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday gave signals of maintaining distance from Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL) president Shivpal Singh Yadav.

Talking to the media at his residence situated in the Civil Lines area, the SP leader said that he has nothing to do with brother Shivpal who has formed the PSPL because he is himself in the poll fray from where Shivpal has fielded his candidates.

Reacting to a question on campaigning for PSPL candidates, the SP patron said, "I don't know who will go for campaigning for whom because I am myself fighting the elections. Why should I worry as to who will go in Shivpal's rally or who won't, rallies take place all the time. If anyone wants to congratulate, they should congratulate me as I am also fighting the elections."

Notably, Shivpal Yadav had come to seek the blessings of his elder brother on the occasion of Holi on March 21 at the Civil Line residence where the duo reportedly had a long conversation.

Shivpal Yadav celebrated the festival at SS Memorial School established in the name of the leader's father.

According to sources, Shivpal had asked his elder brother to be a part of the Holi celebrations but the SP patron did not accept the same.

Disturbances in the Yadav family were recently noticed when Shivpal announced his decision of fighting the Lok Sabha polls from the Firozabad parliamentary seat wherein Akshay Yadav, son of Prof Ram Gopal Yadav is an SP candidate.

Shivpal Yadav also does not shy away from attacking Prof Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav whenever he visits Firozabad.

Incidentally, Shivpal had always said that he founded the PSPL on the advice of his elder brother, while adding that not only will his party support Mulayam Singh on the Mainpuri seat but will not field any candidate of the PSPL on the seat.

Notably, Shivpal Singh Yadav also left out the name of the SP patron from the PSPL's list of star campaigners.
