Mizoram bestowed with Best State (Special Category) in 2nd National Water Award

Aizawl/IBNS: Mizoram has been awarded the Best State (Special Category) in the 2nd National Water Award organized by Ministry of Jal Shakti. The award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi which was graced by Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu, as the Chief Guest and presided by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Jal Shakti.

Ministry of Jal Shakti had instituted National Water Awards for 16 various categories including - Best States, Best Water User Association, Best Municipal Cooperation, Best Newspapers etc. in the field of water conservation and management.

Applications had been submitted from the concerned departments of Mizoram under various categories for the National Water Award 2019.

Irrigation & Water Resources Department, Mizoram had submitted application for Best State Category (Special Category) and Best Water User Association Category for Dakla, Sihphir and Phaizau, Champhai.

In pursuance of the proposal submitted, a Technical Team from Ministry of Jal Shakti has visited various schemes implemented by the state government and interacted with officials and Water User Association during  9th-11th  March, 2020.
