Manipur storm: Three women killed, several injured

Guwahati, Apr 16 (IBNS): At least three women died and several others were injured in a sudden storm that swept Manipur on Monday evening.

Many residential houses, church, schools, offices were also destroyed in the storm.

According to the reports, two women were crushed to death after a house collapsed at Churachandpur district, while another woman, who ran a tea shop at the Wari area in Kakching district, was killed when a tree fell on her.

The two elder women were reportedly taking shelter at a house in K Salemjang village, where heavy storm had destroyed the house.

The deceased women were Domnem Doungel (74), Chenkholhai Khongsai (50) and Yengkhom Nungsitombi (56).

Several students were also injured after the heavy storm destroyed school buildings in Bishenpur, Nonglei area.

On the other hand, the storm also destroyed an election campaign rally in Nonglei.
