Maneka Gandhi caught on camera referring to Muslim voters in her speech in Sultanpur
Sultanpur, Apr 12 (IBNS): At a time when the nation is voting in the general polls, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Maneka Gandhi has triggered a controversy when she was caught on camera allegedly asking the people of the Muslim community to vote for her or else she may not be inclined to be responsive to their requests.
While addressing a rally, Gandhi, who is contesting the polls from Sultanpur seat of Uttar Pradesh, was quoted as saying by the media: "I am winning this poll."
"But if my victory is without Muslims then I am not going to feel good," she said.
"When a Muslim comes to me for work then I think let it be, how does it matter. Don't you feel it is all give and take? We aren't all sons of Mahatma Gandhi, are we?" she said.
Voting in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls was held on Thursday.
This time polling will be held in the Lok Sabha polls in seven phases.
Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
