Man kills wife and three minor daughters in Assam’s Nagaon district

Guwahati/IBNS: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his wife and three minor daughters in Assam’s Nagaon district.

The incident took place at Silghat area near Kaliabor in the central Assam district, where a man identified as Jayanta Kumar Barman killed his wife and three minor daughters after he allegedly failed to repay debt.

The man is still absconding and police have launched an operation to nab him.

The deceased persons were identified as 37-year-old Bajawanti Barman, 12-year-old Nikita Barman, 10-year-old Bhaswati Barman and 6-year-old Nibedita Barman.

The accused person, hailing from Mukalmua area in Nalbari district, was an employee of Assam Co-Operative Jute Mills Limited located at Silghat area and he was living at a quarter of the jute mill with his family.

According to the reports, Jayanta Kumar Barman was absent at his workplace in last four days.

Some locals found the dead bodies inside of the house where the family was living and immediately informed local police.

Police recovered the bodies from the house and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

Kaliabor Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mrinmoi Das said that, four bodies were recovered from the house where Jayanta Kumar Barman was living with his family.

“Following the information, we had reached at the area and recovered the bodies. The accused man is still absconding,” Mrinmoi Das said.

On the other hand, a local resident said that, the man had committed the crime after failing to repay debt.

“He had some bad nature like as playing gambling regularly and many people said that, there was a lot debt on him,” the local resident said.
