Man booked for abetting suicide of would-be bride

Thane, Sep 14 (UNI) A Gujarat native have been booked by the police here on the alleged charge of abetting the suicide of his would-be bride,who hailed from the Mumbra suburb of this district.

Mumbra Police Station senior Inspector M S Kad told that the accused Jusuf Ab Chouhan,a resident of Gujarat's Una,has been booked under the IPC section 306.


According to police, the 26-year-old victim Reshma Shaikh committed suicide on September 10 by hanging herself at her residence.
Quoting the complaint of the victim's mother,the police said that the duo were engaged on March 5 this year however the accused doubted her fidelity and beat her.


When asked about the marriage,he would reply that unless and until his debts are cleared he won't marry,mentioned complaint,and added that he even made demand of Rs 20,000.


Fed up with constant harassment,Reshma resorted to the extreme step,added complaint.


No arrest has been made yet as further investigation into the crime is underway,apprised police.
