Mamata denies rift withing her party
Kolkata, Feb 16 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday denied any rift within her party even as Trinamool Congress lawmaker Swapan Ghosh wrote to Union minister Venkaiah Naidu asking for his intervention in his constituency Siuri where he claimed funds have been stolen from a Rs. 10.36 crore central water supply project.
"We are one collective family. There is no difference within the party," Banerjee told mediapersons.
Her comments came following an embarrassment for Trinamool Congress, which is practically jostling to check the growing influence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.
According to reports, Ghosh had apparently complained to his party leadership but finally wrote directly to the Central minister after getting no response.
Ghosh also dared the party leadership to punish him for writing to the central government directly about corruption in his constituency.
