Thane/UNI:  Two employees at the civic crematorium here have been admitted to different hospitals after being tested positive for coronavirus.

While, their family members have been quarantined, it was learnt here on Sunday.

In-charge of crematoriums of Thane Municipal Corporation Dr S K Mahavarkar confirmed the news and said that they have tested positive.

He said that a driver of the hearse and a body handler were tested positive today when they got themselves checked.

Following this, chief of the city unit of INTUC Sachin Shinde demanded for medical check-up of all the employees working in the crematoriums, as they are at high risk of contracting the disease while handling the bodies daily.

Those working at the crematoriums handle 80 per cent of the bodies of Covid-19 patients and hence they need to be provided proper care, he said and demanded that they should be provided with quality PPEs as the kits provided to them are of substandard quality.
