Maharashtra hooch tragedy: Main accused arrested, Fadnavis orders probe
Mumbai, June 23 (IBNS): The main accused in the hooch tragedy, which hit Malwani area in Maharashtra, was arrested from Delhi on Tuesday.
The tragedy left 102 lives killed so far, said reports.
Following the arrest, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered a probe to enquire into the deaths in the toxic alcohol tragedy.
"Ordered a probe under the Chief Secretary to enquire into the deaths caused in the unfortunate Malwani Hooch tragedy," Fadnavis tweetedon Tuesday.
According to police, the main accused, who is identified as Mansur Latif Shaikh alias Atiq, arrested from north-east Delhi's Seelampur, used to supply methanol from Gujarat.
Atiq was on run since June 17, when the tragedy started unfolding in Malvani colony.
The report to the enquiry has to be submitted within three months.
