LG, leaders of various parties condemn killing of 3 Kashmir BJP workers

Srinagar/UNI: Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, besides leaders of different political parties, have strongly condemned the killing of three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers by militants in south Kashmir district of Kulgam on Thursday night.

Militants last night shot dead BJP Yuva Morcha General Secretary for Kulgam, Fida Hussain Itoo, Umar Hajam both residents of YK Pora and Haroon Rashid Beigh of Sopat.

The killing took place four days after BJP leaders and workers took out Tiranga rallies in the Kashmir valley to celebrate Jammu and Kashmir’s accession with India on October 26, 1947.

Sinha has strongly condemned the killings of political workers who were shot dead by the militants in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district last night.

Expressing his anguish over the killings, the Lt Governor said that the perpetrators of violence are the enemies of humanity and such cowardly acts can not be justified.

Law shall take its course and the guilty shall be dealt with sternly, he added.

The Lt Governor assured all the possible help from the government to the bereaved families. He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls.

Former Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah in a tweet said, "Terrible news from Kulgam district of South Kashmir. I unequivocally condemn the targeted killing of the 3 BJP workers in a terror attack. May Allah grant them a place in Jannat & may their families find strength during this difficult time."

Another former CM and president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, said, "Saddened to hear about the killing of three BJP workers in Kulgam. Condolences to their families. At the end of the day, it's the people of J&K who pay with their lives because of GOI’s ill thought out policies."

People's Conference (PC) chairman and former minister Sajjad Gani Lone in a tweet said, "Sad news coming in from Kulgam. Yet another killing. Condemn this heinous violence. Hope we get out of this vicious cycle of violence. Hope peace prevails. Hope sanity prevails. Violence has to be condemned in all its forms."
