New Delhi/UNI: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday approved Delhi government's proposal to allow only 50 people at wedding ceremonies in the National Capital in view of the rising Covid-19 cases, sources said.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal forwarded the proposal to the LG for reducing the number of people from 200 to 50 at marriage functions.

During the lockdown period, the marriage ceremonies at banquets and other party places were prohibited.

However, the restriction was gradually lifted during the "unlock phases".

Since the onset of winters, the National Capital has been witnessing a surge in infection.

The cases rose significantly in the last two weeks owing much due to festivities, prompting authorities to rethink over restrictions.
