Kolkata Police report its sixth Covid-19 fatality

Kolkata/IBNS: Kolkata Police on Tuesday reported its sixth Covid-19 fatality as a 59-year-old constable posted at south Kolkata's Charu Market Police Station died due to the highly infectitious disease.

According to reports, constable Debendra Nath Tirki, who had tested positive for Covid-19, was undergoing treatment at a city hospital where he died on Tuesday.

"We deeply mourn the untimely demise of Constable Debendra Nath Tirki, who was posted in Charu Market PS. He was affected with COVID-19 and was at the forefront of our Fight Against Corona." Kolkata Police tweeted.

Earlier, five more Kolkata cops, including an Inspector-rank officer, three constables and a civic volunteer, succumbed to Covid-19.

So far, over 900 Kolkata Police personnel have tested positive for the deadly virus while more than 600 of them have recovered from the infection.
