Kolkata hit by taxi-bus strike on Friday
Kolkata, Sept 19 (IBNS): The transport system of Kolkata is hit for the second successive day on Friday owing to a taxi and other transport strike called by Left Front labour unions entering its second day.
An indefinite taxi strike has begun on Thursday while a transport strike is also taking hold on Friday.
AITUC leader Nawal Kishor Shrivastav said that CITU and AITUC supported all auto, taxi, bus, minibus and goods carrying trucks to go ahead with the strike.
CITU leader Anadi Sahu claimed that the government transport staff will take part in this strike as well. He said 50,000 taxi drivers would take part.
West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra said that to confront the strike, maximum number of government buses will be on the roads.Support Our Journalism
