Kochi: SI held for sexually harassing housewife
Kochi/UNI: Additional sub-inspector of Ernakulam central station was arrested for intimidating and sexually assaulting a housewife at Mulanthuruthy on Saturday and he was suspended.
Police had registered a case against the SI, Babu Mathew, a month back based on a complaint filed by the 37-year-old woman. As per the complaint, Mathew had sexually assaulted her for over a year.
The friendship between the SI and the woman started during a vehicle inspection time and the woman was asked to pay a fine for a traffic violation.
Mathew had gone underground after the case was registered against him and tried to seek anticipatory bail. He reached the station the other day and surrendered.
