Kejriwal and Sisodia acquitted in liquor policy case; AAP chief calls arrest 'Modi-Shah's conspiracy'

“There was no overarching conspiracy or criminal intent in the excise policy,” the court said, as quoted by NDTV.

Kejriwal, who leads the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and was voted out of power in Delhi last year, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of orchestrating a “conspiracy” against him and his deputy.

“Modi-ji and Amit Shah-ji together hatched the biggest conspiracy in independent India to finish the AAP. Five top leaders were jailed. In an unprecedented incident, a sitting Chief Minister was dragged out of his house and arrested,” Kejriwal said in a sharp attack on the BJP.

“Manish Sisodia was kept behind bars for almost two years! The entire case was fabricated. We were defamed, and I was called corrupt,” the former Delhi CM said, visibly emotional.

“Kejriwal is not corrupt. I have only earned honesty in my whole life, and it has been proved in the court,” he added, controlling his emotions.

Kejriwal’s arrest had been a major setback for the AAP, which rose to prominence in Delhi politics on the back of the anti-corruption movement.

After being released on bail, Kejriwal stepped down as Chief Minister and asked his trusted lieutenant Atishi to take over until the 2025 assembly elections, which resulted in a resounding victory for the BJP.
