Kashmir: Jawan killed, civilian injured in Pak firing in Poonch

Jammu/UNI: An Army jawan lost his life, while one civilian suffered injuries as Pakistan fired unprovoked and shelled border villages along the Line of Control in Mendhar sector of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources here said on Thursday, "Pakistan troops late on Wednesday night repeatedly violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked along the Line of Control in Poonch district by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars in Balakote sector of Poonch."

They added that they also fired heavily in the Mendhar sector in which one Army jawan was martyred while one civilian is also reportedly injured.

The firing stopped in the wee hours, sources added.
