Kashmir crime: 16 drug held, contraband seized
Srinagar, Jul 3 (UNI) Police on Wednesday arrested 16 drug peddlers and recovered contraband from them in separate places of Kashmir valley, official sources said.
They said six drug peddlers were arrested by police in north Kashmir district of Baramulla in different operations.
''The accused were identified as Mohammad Rafiq Sofi, Sadam Hussain Khan, Naveed Manzoor Najar, Mohammad Abbas, Mohsin Yousuf Mir and Danish Qazi, They were lodged in Police Station Baramulla,'' they said.
Huge quantity of brown sugar and 297 Spasmoproxyvon tablets were seized from their possession.
They said following specific information, a police team arrested three drug peddlers in central Kashmir district of Budgam.
''During questioning, the drug peddlers revealed the name of a notorious a drug peddler, identified as Gulzar Ahmad, who was subsequently arrested,” the sources said.
They said huge quantity of contraband was recovered from them.
Six more drug peddlers were arrested at two separate checkpoints at Narbal Bridge and Chadoora.
''All the accused were arrested and huge contraband was recovered from them,'' they added.
They said police has registered a case and initiated investigation into these incidents.
