Srinagar, July 29 (IBNS) Eid-ul Fitr was Tuesday celebrated across Kashmir with thousands of Muslims flocking the mosques, shrines and grounds in the Valley to offer the special prayers.

Dressed immaculately, men, children and women offered Eid Prayer at different places in Kashmir Valley.

The biggest gathering was witnessed at Hazratbal Shrine with around 50,000 people while Eidgah ground in old city recording an attendance of 50,000.

The fasting month came to an end yesterday with the sighting of the crescent moon as Muslims follow the lunar calendar.

Reports of Eid celebration and prayers were also received from all district headquarters of the Valley.

Soon after Eid prayers passed off peacefully in most parts of the Valley, anti-Israel protests erupted at Eidgah in Old City and other parts.

The 30 minutes protest call was given by Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and supported by several others amalgam separatists
leaders against Israel's offensive on Palestine.

Reports said protests turned violent at several parts of the valley.

Meanwhile  separatist leaders, including Geelani, Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik have been placed under house arrest as a preventive measure.
