Kashmir: After brief encounter in Shopian, two bodies recovered

Srinagar, Jun 3 (UNI): Two bodies were recovered on Monday after a brief exchange of fire between militants and Quick Reaction Team (QRT) of Army in south Kashmir district of Shopian in the wee hours, official sources said.

They said militants traveling in a vehicle jumped a check post set up by QRT of 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in village Moolu Chitragam and opened fire, the fire was retaliated ensuing in an encounter, they said.

The area was immediately cordoned off and during the search one body was recovered, they said adding with the first light this morning one more body was recovered from the area.

The deceased were identified as Firdous Ahmad Bhat and Sajjad Ahmad, they said adding it was not immediately clear whether they are militants or civilians.

Meanwhile, mobile internet service in the area has been suspended and further details are awaited, they added.
