Bengaluru, June 23 (UNI) Police have nabbed eight people, including a woman, on charges of kidnap and they were booked under Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA).

Police said on Sunday that the arrested were identified as Ravi, Lakshman Poojari, Karthik M Daulat, Daniel Devraj, Ayappa, Kotresh, Ramakrishna and Ms Manjushree.

The king pin Ravi while serving jail term on some criminal case, developed friendship with Arms smuggler Lakshman Poojari and Kartik M Daulat and with the help of other friends, kidnapped Kiran Public School owner and Principal Bhadraiah while he was on a morning walk and kept him in captivity at Forest in Kollegal Police Station limits on February 19-2019.

Ravi, who had himself identified as RTI Activist and running Karnataka Student Parents Association head, demanded Rs two Crore for Bhadraiah’s release.

However, when he learnt that he will not get the money he released Badraiah.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that Ravi, by changing the gang members frequently, had been indulging in Kidnap of businessmen and making money by collecting ransom for their release.

All the arrested were remanded to Judicial custody by a Magistrate before who they were produced.
