Kangana Ranaut feels humiliated, wants compensation for demolition, Minister says after meeting her

The politician, who is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ally, told reporters that he has assured his party's support to the actress, who according to him feels insulted.

"Met actor Kangana Ranaut and talked with her for an hour. I told her she has nothing to fear in Mumbai...Mumbai is the country's economic capital and everybody has the right to live here...my party (RPI) is with her," Athawale told reporters after the meeting.

"She told me she felt insulted. Her office that she got constructed in January has been damaged. She said she didn't know about 2-3 inches extra constructed by the builder. The BMC should have demolished that part but it damaged the inside walls and furniture. She has approached the court against this and wants compensation," he added.

Kangana also visited her partially demolished office on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court on Thursday said it will hear Kangana’s petition against the demolition of her Pali Hill office by BMC on Sept 22.

The court's stay on the demolition is seen as a big win for the actress who is in the midst of a major face-off with the Shiv Sena led Maharashtra government.

The 33-year-old actor said the demolition bid by the BMC was just a vendetta.

The high court while staying BMC’s demolition order said it "prima facie does not appear to be bonafide and smacks of malafide".

The demolition timed with the return of the actress to Mumbai after a long stay in Manali in Himachal Pradesh seems to have backfired on Shiv Sena as the Bombay High Court put a stay on the demolition by BMC.

The court reprimanded the BMC for producing an extremely unclear sketch/drawing in its stop-work notice, adding that the unauthorized works could not be seen at all.

The court observed that BMC’s act was deplorable as it swiftly moved to bring down the alleged illegal parts of the actress's office even as it was aware that a petition to stay the demolition would be brought before the court any time.

Amid the ongoing tussle, two complaints have also been filed against the 'Queen' actress for allegedly using foul language against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, the police said Thursday evening.

One of the complainants has stated that Kangana, in a video circulated on social media on Sept 9, used "inflammatory and derogatory words" against Thackeray and, in so doing, "tried to diminish the character and challenge the dignity" of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

In her one-minute-and-eight-second video, Kangana, who flew back from Himachal Pradesh to Mumbai, said: "Uddhav Thackeray, do you think that you have committed an act of huge revenge from me by demolishing my home with the connivance of movie mafia?"

"Today, my home has been demolished. Tomorrow your pride will meet the same fate," she said, attacking the Shiv Sena leader.

"This is the wheel of time. Remember, time does not remain the same and it keeps on changing,” she said.
