Jyotiraditya’s step is for India’s good: Kailash Vijayvargiya

Indore/ MP/IBNS/UNI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday described erstwhile central minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s resignation from the Congress as a decision taken in the country’s interest.

“The instability visible in Madhya Pradesh’s Congress dispensation is a consequence of internal differences. For a lengthy period, Mr Scindia was being subjected to humiliation in that party," the seasoned politician told the press at his residence in the state’s commercial capital.

"His resignation shall obviously weaken the Congress not only within this state but in the entire nation! Numerous Congress workers and capable leaders are long experiencing neglect. Mr Scindia’s exit may herald an exodus,” Vijayvargiya said.

In the context of speculation regarding Scindia’s possible entry into the saffron camp, Vijayvargiya said that he is most welcome.

Jyotiraditya Scindia has resigned as the Congress leader amid the political crisis in Madhya Pradesh.

He has sent the resignation letter to Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi.

In the resignation letter, Scindia wrote, "Having been a primary member of the Congress party for last 18 years, it is now time for me to move on. I am tendering my resignation from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress and as you well know, this is a path that has been drawing itself out over the last year."

"While my aim and purpose remain the same as it has always been from the very beginning, to serve the people of my state and country, I believe I am unable to do this anymore within this party.

To reflect and realise the aspirations of my people and my workers I believe it is best that I now look ahead at a fresh start."

Madhya Pradesh fell into a political crisis after more than 17 Congress MLAs including six ministers, all loyals to former Guna MP Scindia, flew out to Bengaluru, Karnataka on Monday.

Scindia tendered his resignation after holding a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday.
