Jubo leader, two others arrested over charges of vandalising Bagha Jatin statue in Bangladesh

Dhaka: A Jubo leader and two others were arrested over charge of vandalising of a sculpture of revolutionary Bagha Jatin in Kushtia region of Bangladesh.

The vandalizing of the statue took place in the campus of Kaya College in Kumarkhali.

The arrested persons were identified as Anisur Rahman Anis, 35, president of Kaya Union unit Jubo League, and his alleged accomplices Sabuj Hossain, 20, and Hridoy Ahmed, 20.  

Kushtia Superintendent of Police SM Tanvir Arafath confirmed the matter at a press briefing at his district office on Saturday morning.

“Apart from the trio, police have been trying to nab another Jubo League activist named Bachchu, who still remains in hiding,” the top cop was quoted as saying by Dhaka Tribune.
