J&K: Security forces, militants exchange fire

Srinagar, Mar 9 (IBNS) Security forces had a brief encounter with militants in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

No one was believed to have been killed or injured during the firefight.

Senior police official of the area said that on specific inputs of militants in the Hadoora (Wanihama) village of Ganderbal district, the encounter started.

During the brief encounter, suspected militants fled from the spot and left behind an AK-47 rifle, which was recovered by the security during search operation.

“ Yes, there was an brief exchange of firing between militants and security forces in the area, the operation was initiated by Srinagar Police after they receive inputs about some militants are hiding in the area,” said Superintend of Police Ganderbal Imtiyaz Ismail Parray.

He further said: "One AK-47 was recovered from the site and search operation is still on in the area."
