Jharkhand: Six caught while betting on IPL matches in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur/UNI: Police has caught six men red handed while they were betting on IPL matches from Bistupur Police Station area of the East Singhbhum district.

From the arrested, Rs 7,050 in cash, receipt books and other items for placing bets have been recovered.

The arrested have been identified as Kanhaiya Prasad, Sarfaraz, Dharmendra Yadav, Raja Khan, Pawan Kumar Chowdhary and Zahid Hussain alias Mintu.

DSP (CCR) Arvind Kumar in a press conference on Saturday said that these men for the last many days were actively betting in the area. He said that a tip off had been received regarding betting and gambling being held at a house located near Chuna Shah Baba Mazaar.

Following the tip off, police conducted raids and arrested the mastermind Kanhaiya Prasad who led to the arrest of the remaining five. The DSP said, Kanhaiya had served prison terms on two previous occasions also for running betting den.
