Jammu/UNI: Jammu and Kashmir soon to have IT Towers while Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between NBCC and JKIT wing, here on Monday.

The MoU was signed between NBCC and JK IT Infrastructure Development Company for establishing IT Towers at Jammu and Srinagar, at a cost of Rs 50 crore each.

J&K government is also undertaking development of 20 rural BPOs with plug and play infrastructure, one each in every district.

These facilities will be available to local businesses and entrepreneurs on rental-basis and will help give impetus to local start-ups and generate local employment.

J&K has also launched JK start-up policy to encourage start-ups and innovation in the UT.

"The development of IT infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir would go a long way in creating a conducive environment for Startups, economic growth and creation of employment opportunities," said LG Manoj Sinha.

The Lt Governor observed that the growth of the IT sector is absolutely imperative for economic growth and for creation of gainful employment opportunities; asked the executing agencies to incorporate scope for future expansion of the projects.

"UT Government is working with a vision to promote latest scientific and technology-driven innovations to make J&K self-reliant," said the LG.
