Jammu and Kashmir: Terrorist killed during operation in Shopian

Srinagar: Security forces shot dead a terrorist during an encounter in  south Kashmir's Shopian district, officials said.

The encounter erupted at the Turkwangam area of Shopian Thursday evening when joint forces of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon-And-Search Operation(CASO).

“As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where terrorist were hiding they came under fire that triggered the encounter. In the ensuing encounter, a terrorist has been killed so far,” a security official told UNI.

The identity and the affiliation of slain could not be established immediately.

Police said the operation is underway.
