Jammu And Kashmir: Samoon reviews action plan of Craft Development Institute

Principal Secretary, School Education & Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Monday convened a meeting with senior officers of Skill Development Department to review and discuss action plan for Craft Development Institute (CDI) at Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by Director Skill Development, Sajad Hussain Ganai, Director Finance, Skill Development, Joint Director Planning, Skill Development and other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Director Skill Development gave detailed brief through power point presentation on roadmap and objectives of the Institute saying that the Craft Development Institute adopts a holistic approach to handicrafts development by maximizing the potential of skill-based activities.

Pertinently, CDI draws inspiration from the rich heritage of arts and crafts in Jammu and Kashmir and brings together various stakeholders, individuals and agencies working in the sector to co partner in implementing a sustainable development process.

By providing a forum for creative exchange and knowledge creation across design, management and technology, CDI endeavours to create new avenues for innovation and entrepreneurship in handicrafts.

Principal Secretary asked the concerned to introduce courses as per market demand so that after completing these courses candidate gets job in private as well as Government sector for their livelihood.

Principal Secretary directed the concerned officers of Skill Development to initiate efforts for   starting  crash   courses  in  the  craft   development   institute  as  early  as  possible.

Later, a large number of individuals and deputations met with Principal Secretary and projected  their  grievances  and  demands  regarding  service  matter  and  others issues.

Principal Secretary assured them that all their genuine issues would be redressed on priority basis.
