Jammu and Kashmir: Kathua Police cracks highway robberies, 3 held with weapon

Jammu, Mar 30 (UNI) Police on Saturday cracked twin highway robberies by arresting three accused persons alongwith weapon and live cartridges in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

''The Chadwal Petrol Pump and Kathua Shop robbery cases have been cracked with the arrest of three notorious criminals with pistol with 5 rounds,'' Sridhar Patil, SSP Kathua said.


He further said that in a major breakthrough, police have succeeded in solving two robbery cases which recently took place at a shop in Parliwand area in Kathua town and petrol pump in Chadwal area along the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in which gang of inter-state robbers looted money on gun point and injuring the owner of the shop and employees at petrol pump.


The incident at Parliawand area near old bus stand took place on February 8 in which three accused robbed a shop in late evening and looted the money on gun point and injured the owner of the shop namely Manohar Lal Gupta of Ward No 15 Patel Nagar, Kathua and fled away from the spot.
The SSP said that based on specific information, Ravinder Singh SDPO Border alongwith Inspector Manjeet Singh, SHO Police Station Rajbagh succeeded in arresting the notorious criminal from Badholi area in Hiranagar.


The arrested person was identified as Balbir Singh alias Pamma of Dinanagar Punjab, presently living in Bamiyal Punjab and seized a pistol and five rounds from his possession.


''The accused during questioning admitted his involvement in both the robberies and also revealed that accused Pamma is prime accused in murder case and other heinous crime and wanted in many cases,'' he added and said that in the follow up action Police also arrested two more criminals in namely Rakesh Kumar alias Tony of Prangoli Dingamb, Hiranagar, Kathua and Vishal Verma of Mangloor, Dingamb, Hiranagar, Kathua.
