Official sources said that panic gripped village Gohallan in Uri when a gunshot was heard near an Army post late on Thursday night. “The soldiers deployed in the area rushed to the spot from where the gunshot was heard where they found a jawan lying in a pool of blood,” they said.

They said the jawan was immediately taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. “Initial investigation revile that the jawan, identified as Rakshit Kumar, a resident of Samba in Jammu, shot himself with his service rifle,” they said.
