At least five tourists were injured in a suspected terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's popular destination, Pahalgam, on Tuesday.

The attack reportedly took place in the Baisaran meadow area.

“Terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists. While several have been injured, we fear there may be some casualties,” a senior official told UNI news agency.

Security forces have rushed to the spot.

“The site of the incident is not accessible by vehicles. Security forces have been rushed to the spot on foot,” the official told the news agency.

Pahalgam, which is known for its forests and meadows, is a popular tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir and draws a large number of people every year.

More details are awaited.
