Jaitely visits LOC north Kashmir

Srinagar, June 15 (IBNS) Defence Minster Arun Jaitley on Sunday visited the forward posts on the Line of Control in Uri sector of North Kashmir.

The Defence Minister was briefed by the formation and unit commanders on the prevailing security situation along the Line of Control, the trends in infiltration of terrorists and the Counter Infiltration grid established by Army.

He also interacted with the officers, JCOs and Jawans deployed on the Line of Control and lauded their efforts and selfless duty towards the nation.

He assured them that the nation stood behind them in all their exemplary services and he would ensure that all aspirations of the Army were addressed.

He was accompanied by General Bikram Singh, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen DS Hooda, the Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, the Chinar Corps Commander and other senior officials of Army and Ministry of Defence (MoD).

On return to Srinagar the Defence Minister attended the Special Security Review meeting held at Sher-I- Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), attended by the Chief Minister, the Chief of Army Staff, the Northern Army Commander, the Chinar Corps Commander and other officials of state and civil administration.

Security related issues were discussed during the meeting which included the briefings of various members of the Apex Security mechanism.

Later in the day, the Defence Minister left for Delhi.
