Jaiprakash Narain remembered on Sampoorn Kranti Divas

Patna, Jun 5 (UNI): Rich tributes were paid today to socialist leader Jaiprakash Narain who had launched the Sampoorn Kranti, mainly known as a student movement thta had thrown out the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from power after she imposed emergency to gag the voice of masses against her dictatorial rule.

A function was organised here to pay tributes to Jaiprakash Narain and recall his contribution in pulling out nation from the dark tunnel of Emergency imposed by Gandhi in the mid seventies. Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi paid floral tributes to Jaiprakash Narain at his statue near historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

Both Mr Kumar and Mr Modi had actively participated in student movement spearheaded by Jaiprakash Narain which left its impact across the country and it took the shape of mass movement, leading to the removal of Indira Gandhi as PM. Both the leaders said that ideology of Jaiprakash Narain was still relevant and younger generation should inculcate it with full sincerity and dedication.
