Jahangirpuri Violence: Delhi's Rohini court sends 2 accused to police remand

New Delhi: The Rohini court has sent two people to police remand in connection with the violence that erupted in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri on Saturday during a Hanuman Jayanti procession, media reports said.

The remaining 12 accused have been sent to judicial custody, the reports added.

On Sunday, Delhi Police arrested six more people in connection with the violence in which nine people, including eight cops and one civilian, were injured. Two of them are juvenile, media reports said.

Police have recovered three firearms and five swords from the possession of the accused persons.

According to the latest media report, one more accused has been arrested in the Jahangirpuri case.

An India Today report said that he is found to be previously involved in a robbery and attempt to murder case.

So far, 21 accused persons have been arrested. Further investigation of the case is in progress.

Police are using CCTV footage and videos on social media to identify more suspects and efforts are underway to arrest them.

In wake of the violence, the Delhi Police have deployed drone cameras for patrolling to ensure law and order in the sensitive areas.

Meanwhile, female paramilitary forces along with the Delhi Police are patrolling in G block at Kaushal chowk where groups of two communities had clashed Saturday evening.

Ten teams of officers from the Crime Branch and Special Cell have been formed to investigate the matter.
