Ahmedabad, May 28 (IBNS): In a significant move, the Gujarat government on Wednesday reinstated suspended IPS officer GL Singhal who is an accused in the 2004 fake encounter case of Ishrat Jahan case.

"He was now posted in the Special Reserve Police in Gandhinagar.Singhal was suspended after he was named as a prime accused in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case," CNN-IBN reported.

Nineteen-year-old Ishrat was gunned down by the Gujarat Police along with Javed Ghulam Sheikh alias Pranesh Kumar Pillai, Amjad Ali alias Rajkumar Akbar Ali Rana and Jisan Johar Abdul Gani in Ahmedabad on June 15, 2004.

The police alleged that Ishrat and three others were Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants who conspired to assassinate Modi.
