Guwahati/UNI: The two most influential youth bodies of the state, All Assam Students Union (AASU) and Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), today announced of floating a political party next month.

Addressing a joint press conference here, the leaders of the two organisations said a two-member convener’s committee has been formed to finalise the outline of the party, with both the organisations to maintain its distance from the party formation in order to keep intact their apolitical characteristic.

Making public the report of an advisory committee formed by the AASU and AJYCP to advise it on taking the political plunge, AASU president Dipanka Nath said the two organisations will proceed as per the suggestions of the committee and the convener’s committee will finalise the party’s shape and other details.

AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said the spirit of the new party will be ‘Assam first: Now and Forever’ as recommended by the committee in its report.

AJYCP leader Palash Changmai maintained that a third regional political force is the answer to the problems plaguing the state and the new party will fill this void.

As per the recommendation of the committee, the new party will stay away from communal and national parties, they added.
