Indian soldiers never crossed LAC: New Delhi rubbishes Beijing's claim of trespassing at Pangong Lake

New Delhi/IBNS: Rebutting Beijing's unverified claim that the Indian soldiers had trespassed at the border along Pangong Lake, New Delhi on Tuesday said none of its troops had crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) which has been inflamed by the neighbouring country since May.

Accusing China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) of its fresh provocations, India said in a statement, "It is the PLA that has been blatantly violating agreements and carrying out aggressive manoeuvres, while engagement at the military, diplomatic and political level is in progress."

Meanwhile, an incident of firing has been reported along the LAC in the eastern Ladakh sector where India and China are engaged in a standoff.

"We request the Indian side to immediately stop dangerous actions, immediately withdraw cross-line personnel, strictly restrain front-line troops, and strictly investigate and punish personnel who fired shots to ensure that similar incidents do not occur again," Colonel Zhang Shuili, the spokesperson for the Western Theater Command of the PLA, said in a statement as quoted by the news channel.

"India's actions seriously violated the relevant agreements and agreements between China and India, pushing up regional tensions and easily causing misunderstandings and misjudgments," the spokesperson said.

India and China have been engaged in border standoff along the LAC in eastern Ladakh since early May.

It has even led to a violent clash between troops of the two countries in the Galwan valley on Jun 15, wherein 20 Indian soldiers were martyred.

The Chinese side also suffered massive casualties but they have yet not disclosed the figure.
