Indian High Commission official found dead in Bangladesh's Chattogram

An official posted at the Indian High Commission in Chattogram, Bangladesh, was found dead inside the mission premises on Tuesday morning, prompting an investigation.

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Naren Dhar, who served as an Assistant Protocol Officer at the Indian mission in Bangladesh.

Body found inside visa centre building

According to reports in Bangladeshi media, Dhar’s body was discovered in front of a bathroom door on the second floor of a data entry room inside the old visa centre building located within the mission premises.

Staff alerted police after no response

Police officials said embassy staff became concerned after receiving no response from Dhar’s room and subsequently alerted the authorities.

Chattogram Metropolitan Police personnel later reached the site.

Post-mortem ordered

An inquest was conducted at the scene, after which the body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Officials said no apparent abnormalities were found during the initial examination.

The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report.
