Indian diaspora members celebrate Independence Day in USA

The Indian diaspora members on Thursday celebrated Independence Day at the iconic Times Square in the US city of New York.

During the celebration at the iconic spot, people danced and performed to the tunes of Bollywood numbers which added to the mood of merrymaking.

India envoy Vinay Mohan Kwatra hoisted the tri-colour  at India House in Washington, DC.

The Indian Embassy in the Washington DC posted on X: " Ambassador Shri Vinay Kwatra hoisted the tricolour at India House. Members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India participated in the ceremony."

The program included a special Bharatnatyam performance on Jayate Jayate Bharat Mata. 

An award ceremony was also held for the young winners of a painting competition organised by the Embassy. 

Members of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India also took part in the event.
