An Indian all-party delegation, led by MP  Sanjay Kumar Jha, recently visited Japan and informed political leadership and diplomatic officials of the country that the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam was a deliberate attempt to disrupt peace and development in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India.

Jha reaffirmed that India maintains a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and makes no distinction between terrorists and those who harbour or support them.

He noted that India’ s response through Operation Sindoor was precise, proportionate and non-escalatory.

"Jha further emphasized that combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remains a national priority for India," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

He sought Japan’s support in our common fight against terror and to bring perpetrators of cross-border terrorism from Pakistan to justice.

Earlier, the delegation held a constructive interaction with members of the JapanIndia Parliamentary Friendship League, led by its Chairman, Yasutoshi Nishimura, Former Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Discussions focused on India’s approach to countering cross-border terrorism and the shared commitment between India and Japan to combat this global threat.

The delegation also met with Minoru Kihara, Former Defence Minister of Japan;  Shinako Tsuchiya, Director General of the International Bureau of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP); and Yasuhiro Hanashi, Acting Chairman of the LDP’s Research Commission on Public Safety, CounterTerrorism, and Anti-Cybercrime Measures.

In each of these meetings, India’s policy of zero tolerance toward terrorism was firmly conveyed.

It was underlined that there can be no neutral voice in the fight against terrorism.

The delegation also engaged with members of the Japanese media, Members of the Diet, Speakers of Prefectural Assemblies, senior officials from national and prefectural governments, and foreign diplomats based in Japan, to discuss India’s counter-terrorism stance.
