Indian consulate in Toronto to organise 3rd edition of its ‘Varishtha Yoddha’ initiative in near future

Toronto/IBNS: Consul General of India, Toronto plans to organize the third edition of its program ‘Varishtha Yoddha’ initiative in near future to recognize the contributions and sacrifices of the Indian armed forces.

The last two editions of the marquee event were held in the years 2020 and 2021 when veterans above the age of 90 years and 75 years were felicitated.

The eligibility criteria for this year’s awards are as below:

a) The veterans should be above 75 years of age as of August 15, 2022.
b) The veterans should have served in the Indian Army, Navy, or Air Force.
c) The veteran should be a resident of the Consular Jurisdiction (see link) of the Consulate General of
India, Toronto.
d) The veterans should not have been felicitated by our office in the first and the second edition of
‘Varishtha Yoddha’.

To organize the event, Consulate has, in the past, relied on the support of three veterans’ associations in GTA. The following are the details of these associations:

The consulate has requested that those eligible for the felicitation and desiring the award, may send their nominations through any of the above-mentioned associations by the latest 20th of July 2022 in the following format.

iii. Date of Birth
iv. Address
v. Phone number
vi. Email address
vii. Brief Particulars of Service including War participation, if any.
