Indian Army officials hands back Chinese soldier who strayed across LAC in Ladakh
New Delhi: The Chinese Army personnel, who was caught by the Indian Army after he strayed across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, was handed back to China on Tuesday, media reports said on Wednesday.
According to media reports, he was handed back to Chinese officials at the Chushul Moldo meeting point.
PLA soldier, who was identified as Corporal Wang Ya Long, was apprehended in the Demchok sector of Eastern Ladakh on Monday after he had strayed across the LAC, the Indian Army said.
"As per established protocols, he will be returned back to Chinese officials at the Chushul – Moldo meeting point after completion of formalities," the Army said in a statement.
The incident happened at a time when the relationship between India and China has touched new low over the border clashes.
India and China have been engaged into border standoff along the LAC in eastern Ladakh since early May.
It has even led to a violent clash between troops of the two countries in the Galwan valley on June 15, wherein 20 Indian soldiers were killed.
The Chinese side also suffered massive casualties but they have yet not disclosed the figure.
