Indian and Chinese soldiers clash along Sino-India border in North Sikkim

Gangtok/UNI/IBNS: Four Indian and seven Chinese soldiers sustained injuries after they engaged in a fist-fight following a face off during border patrol at Naku La in North Sikkim on Saturday, sources in Indian Army said.

 

 

 

The soldiers sustained minor injuries and the matter was resolved at local level, they said.

According to a UNI report, the clash was a severe one and many soldiers, both from Indian and Chinese side, engaged in the scuffle have been admitted to hospital with critical injuries.

The clash broke out at 1:32 am on Sunday, according to soures, the report said.

"The aggressive confrontation  between the troops from the two sides took place near Naku la sector, further than Munguthang at an altitude of over 5000 meters in North Sikkim. Four Indian soldiers and seven Chinese soldiers have suffered injuries. On the whole, the operation involved 150 soldiers," the UNI report quoted sources on conditions of anonimity.

The site of face off is 100 kms from Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim.

It is to be noted that the soldiers of Indian Army and People’s Liberation Army of China were maintaining cordial relations in the past, celebrating Indian and Chinese National Days, Republic Day and special festivals and exchanging sweets.
